Frequently Asked Questions

What is Metabolic Psychiatry?

Metabolic psychiatry is an emerging field that looks at how metabolism, energy balance, and nutrient pathways influence mental health conditions.

Do you offer telehealth appointments?

Yes, CareSync Psych offers HIPAA-compliant and secure telehealth appointments across Florida, making care accessible and convenient. All you need is a private space, a device with a camera, and a stable internet connection.

Is food addiction a real diagnosis?

Food addiction is not an official DSM-5 diagnosis, but it shares many features with substance use disorders and can be treated effectively with therapy and support.

Do I need a referral to schedule an appointment?

No. You can contact us directly to book your first appointment. If you’d like, we can also coordinate with your primary care provider or therapist.

Do you accept insurance?

Currently, CareSync Psych is a self-pay practice. We provide superbills that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

What should I expect at my first visit?

Your initial evaluation lasts about 60–75 minutes. We’ll review your psychiatric history, medical background, lifestyle, and current concerns. Together, we’ll create a tailored treatment plan.

What types of therapy do you offer?

We use an integrative approach—drawing from multiple evidence-based therapies such as CBT, ERP, IPT, Motivational Interviewing, psychodynamic therapy, supportive therapy, mindfulness, and positive psychology.

Will I have to take medication?

Not necessarily. Medications are considered only if they’re appropriate for your needs and goals. We also offer psychotherapy, lifestyle strategies, and integrative approaches. Decisions are always collaborative.

How often will I need appointments?

This varies depending on your treatment plan. Early on, visits may be more frequent (every 2–4 weeks). As stability improves, sessions may be spaced further apart.

Do you treat children and adolescents?

Yes. We see adolescents for concerns like anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, and eating disorders. We also provide family education and guidance as part of care.

What conditions do you treat?

We treat a wide range of mental health conditions, including:

  • Depression & bipolar disorder

  • Anxiety, OCD, and trauma

  • Eating disorders & body-image distress
